Demand for the temperature measurement around 1000℃ is increasing as the emissions regulations keep getting more strict in recent years. However, the conventional platinum thermal sensors could not meet the demands for high temperature range measurement because the degradation of platinum under high temperature environment which was the core part of sensing could not be prevented. KOA has succeeded in drastically improving the heat resistance by the originally developed unique ceramic coating. In this lecture, I would like to review the basics, applications and market trend regarding the platinum thermal sensors and introduce the platinum thermal sensor element that realized the high temperature resistance.
